This last month has given us here at Interiors by Sarah Ward a lot to swoon over. With events such as the Independent Hotel Show and Decorex coming back showcasing some brilliant design, we were not short of inspiration. So we are dedicating this month’s Discovery to some companies we felt stood out amongst the rest.
Inspired by vibrant colours, the world of fashion and her time living in Florence, Susis eye-catching designs are one of a kind. Using acrylic paint Susi creates abstract pieces of unique artwork, often using a marbled effect and repeat patterns. Not one for the faint hearted but certainly a something truly unique for those who love colour just as much as we do.
Having only been established in 2018, Secolo is the new kid in town. As a London based furniture company with a desire to create iconic pieces, Secolo produce distinctive designs with a playful twist. One collection that stands out is the Giordino Botanico Collection featuring small stools with a cool satin brass backrest inspired by five different botanical shapes; Ivy, Holly, Daisy, Lily and Jasmine. A very cool and contemporary to have in your interior.
If you are a lover of the delicate patterns and intricate details or just looking for that perfect stand out wallpaper, then look no further! We discovered D’arts at this year’s Decorex and were truly mesmerised by their display. Originally from paintings and embroidered silks these have been transformed into specialised wallpaper design from the golden age of Chinese culture. A great way to impress your guests through rich Chinese style.
Last but by no means least, another Decorex find was British design Martin Huxford. With a modern style Martin creates sculptural and decorative lighting and furniture made for the high-end market. It’s easy to see why his designs are found in hotels, restaurants and private residences. Martin Huxford focuses on using luxury materials and great craftsmanship to create his beautiful and sometimes abstract designs.
